A soft matte face, in herringbone or large format
Our most-requested tile finish: a honed lava stone surface with a quiet, chalky matte face, laid here in a classic herringbone and in large square format.
A denser surface, closed under heat
The tile face is fused under heat to close its pores and lift a soft gloss, leaving the natural stone grain and mineral flecks of the basalt fully visible beneath the surface.

Cut thin, from the same block as our worktops
A Bellistri tile is not a separate, lighter-duty product — it is cut from the identical Etna basalt slab used for our worktops and tables, simply gauged down to 1cm so it lays flat on a floor or wall without adding unnecessary weight to the structure beneath it. The Levigata (honed) face is ground to a matte finish in our Catania workshop; the Blank Krystalliseret finish is fused under heat to close the surface pores and lift a soft, natural gloss while keeping the stone's mineral flecking visible; the Glaseret finish is dipped and fired at 1000°C in any of our 58 colours, the same kiln process used across the whole Bellistri range. The result is a tile that reads as real stone underfoot, because it is.
Sweep, mop, done
Levigata (Honed)
Sweep and mop with water and a neutral-pH floor cleaner. No sealing required; avoid strong acids (undiluted limescale remover) which can dull any natural stone's matte face over time.
Blank Krystalliseret & Glaseret
Near-zero porosity means spills wipe straight off. Suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and wet rooms with no ongoing treatment.
Grout & installation
Install with a standard flexible tile adhesive and grout, as for porcelain or natural stone. We advise on grout colour and joint width for herringbone layouts during ordering.
Frequently asked
Are they suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes — basalt conducts heat evenly and has low thermal shock risk. We recommend a gradual warm-up on first use, as with any dense stone tile.
Can they go outdoors or in a wet room?
Yes. Blank Krystalliseret and Glaseret are near-zero porosity and suit wet rooms, shower floors and sheltered outdoor areas; we advise on slip rating per finish.
How do they compare to porcelain?
Porcelain is fired clay; a Bellistri tile is cut from solid volcanic basalt and, for Glaseret, fired in the same enamel as our worktops — real stone, with a colour range no porcelain slab matches.
